This game gets many things wrong, and that should not be a sustainable practice. I hope if more games are built in this franchise that they completely redesign the user interaction. As Poirot says, everybody has brains, but they differ in quality Yours are exceptional. Poirot excels in observing human nature You are receiving this trophy for having penetrated half the peoples thoughts with a simple look. If the game allowed interactions at the same speed as any other game, it would be twice as much fun and take a third of the time. Agatha Christie: The ABC Murders Trophies. Poirot is a gentleman built for comfort rather than speed, so it's understandable that he doesn't gallop around the game, but that's no reason for every other interaction to happen at a stately speed as well. The rest of the game is quite painful though.

The art work is decent, and role-playing Poirot is a little fun. There were a couple where I just tried all combinations, but generally that was good and kinda fun.

One thing the game does do well is the deduction system - you've found some clues, and you put them together to make deductions. Oh yeah, and L2 to interact, instead of X. So whenever he's mentioning to himself that he hasn't solved the puzzle yet, you have to press X, wait a couple of seconds, then press O to undo whatever was wrong. Another awful feature was that whenever Poirot is speaking you can press X to shut him up (not O, like it should be). It turns out that you have to use the D-pad to enable the really awful interaction with the items. There are icons for the items there, but they defiantly do nothing. Most of all, the one that caused me to ragequit, was that when you're doing a puzzle it's possible to use items but there is no indication of that whatsoever. The controls are the worst I've ever encountered, making conceptually simple tasks long and painful. AC insists on a reason, even though she provides characters who voice modern opinions about DNA and environment being responsible. This game is pretty awful.
#AGATHA CHRISTIE THE ABC MURDERS SERIAL#
Not like some serial killers that you occasionally read about, where there doesn't seem to be any reason for their action. And here too, she shows that the murderer acts from a motive - she NEVER provides a solution of someone who kills without a motive that we can understand. What I find interesting, is that this is the closest AC gets to a seriel killer who simply kills (the others, if they kill multiple times, it's to protect themselves after the initial murder). It is a matter of chance that that person is located near the beginning of the alphabet instead of further along, in which case there might have been more murders, which as Poirot showed, are very difficult to prevent! The murderer shields himself by killing people he has no motive in killing - until he reaches the person he really does wish to kill. It's an incredibly callous and cruel method of murder. I am looking forward to reading more of Christie’s books, and especially those featuring this comically brilliant detective. It will obviously appeal to all mystery fiction fans, but also to anyone who is curious about this classic genre. This book is a classic of Christie’s and really demonstrates her skills as the premier mystery writer. It is this reason that finally blows the case wide open and provides a stunning twist at the end. Even when it seems that the case is all locked up, Poirot still tries to understand the underlying reasons behind the crimes. and to prevent these murders from happening on their appointed days, Poirot is using all his mental powers to try and figure out why these murders are happening. Who is this man? What is his connection to the murders?Īs the police are scrambling to try to find A.B.C. Although everyone is a suspect, there are mysterious chapters interspersed throughout the book that feature a strange man named Alexander Bonaparte Cust…A.B.C. The cast of characters keeps expanding as more murders occur, including family members and distraught boyfriends.

When Alice Ascher is found dead, it’s obvious that the murderer is engaged in a lethal game with Poirot. It warns of something happening in Andover on a specific day. The story starts out with the arrival of a teasing letter at Poirot’s home. I also appreciated the fact that the story was told from the perspective of Poirot’s friend, Captain Hastings, meaning that I was left out of Poirot’s thought-processes, so every twist and turn was a surprise. Poirot is brilliant, polished, and funny. It was refreshing to have a main character, the dapper Poirot, instead of some gritty detective with emotional problems. This was also my first foray into this genre most “mysteries” I have read are actually gory crime thrillers.

This is another Agatha Christie story I have read, although I am familiar with the Hercule Poirot series on television.
